About the Item
It is the hand-carved elements that make this trunk or "coffer" so impressive. Please examine the close up photos to appreciate the craftsmanship that went into the detailed carvings. The deep, warm patina of the aged pine reflect
Photos of interior reveal four small drawers and two open areas for storage of smaller, personal items.
Note the original, long wrought iron hinges and side handles. While there is no functioning lock, the large key is included. Hinges remain intact and functioning, although one is a bit loose. Heavy lid rests firmly in place.
The wallpaper lining of interior adds an authentic vintage feel to this old trunk.
Professionally restored and waxed, this 200 year old trunk is ready to be placed and enjoyed. Signs of use include the aged stains, cracks, dried old wormholes, separation of planks in the top, etc.
All scratches, cracks, dings, gouges, stains or age related separation are reflective of generations of use and do not detract from the beauty nor function of this flat top carved trunk.
