About the Item

“Ferrari 500 F2” prototype, children's car, 1: 2 scale, petrol fueled, hydraulic brake system, 1950s The car comes from the Pillon family of Treviso-Italy. The prototype strongly wanted by Cav. Luigino Pillon president of the Ferrari Club of Montebelluna Treviso of those years and commissioned to a small group that included Eng. Franco Angeli who took care of the motorization and the chassis, and a master coachbuilder in the area who created the tubular iron frame with aluminum plate shell entirely anchored with aeronautical rivets designed in the 50s and handmade between the 50s and 60s in Italy. The prototype inspired by the legendary FERRARI 500 F2 was made with extreme care and attention to detail, making all the components to measure and obtaining only a small part of the elements in production such as the direct-feed engine powered by a mixture deriving from the motorcycles of the time, the rack steering mechanics and disc brake system positioned directly in the transmission shaft. The air-cooled single-cylinder internal combustion engine from the 1950s produced by LAMBRETTA has a 48cc displacement with chain transmission. Single-handed with push ignition. The self-supporting frame is made of iron tubular, in correspondence with the wheels there are the springs that cushion the roughness of the ground. The bodywork that covers the chassis is completely in expertly curved and modeled aluminum and anchored by means of aircraft-style riveting. The car is also covered to cover the bottom. Present removable front compartment and openable rear compartment for access to the engine. The original red Ferrari paint of the time. The steering wheel entirely handmade in walnut wood with polished steel spokes. The seat with sliding adjustment to be able to choose the driving position is made of fiberglass covered in sky with a woven motif finished with red leather edging. The dashboard houses the JAEGER decoration instrumentation for a possible electrical system. The aluminum alloy wheels represent the completion of the car in chronological order. The wheels have differentiated sizes between front and rear, as well as the wider track at the rear than at the front. The tires are of the Michelin brand with sizes on the front 350R8 and on the rear 4.00R8. Good conditions; signs of aging; the working model has been preserved for many years in a museum static way. A wonderful tether car model produced by E & M (The Experimental and Model Co.) of Coventry with engine and ‘Maserati style' bodywork and radiator grill. This particular model is in excellent condition and is deeply reminiscent of the heyday of the race cars of the 1950’s. The rear wheels run free on an axle that is pivoted in the middle to allow the car to 'steer'. The car was originally available as a kit that would need to be assembled.
