Vintage Hickory Golf Club, Mid Iron.
Located in Oxfordshire, GB
Vintage Hickory Golf Club, Mid Iron. A fine and nicely weighted dot punched faced mid iron by Josh Taylor (brother of John Henry "J.H." Taylor who was best known for his fine British Open play, winning his first Open in 1894 and went on to win it a further four times). The hickory shaft with polished leather grip, the rear of the club head marked 'Selected, Mid-iron, Warranted Hand Forged, Josh Taylor (signature) Richmond Park' with Taylor's 'Greyhound' cleek mark. The original hickory shaft stamped 'Josh. Taylor Selected'. Taylor was a professional at Aldeburgh and later at a number of other clubs: Seacroft (from 1907), Acton (from 1909), Sudbury (from 1920) and Richmond Park (from 1924). The measurements shown are the length of the shaft with hosel and the width and depth of the face. A great golf club iron in good original condition and very usable for modern hickory play. Approximate 24° loft & swing weight C5. Taken from Wikipedia: Joshua Taylor (1881 - 28 September 1957) was an English professional golfer, the younger brother of J. H. Taylor. He played in the 1913 England-Scotland Professional Match and for Great Britain in the 1921 match against America. Taylor was born Northam, Devon in 1881, 10 years after his brother J. H. Taylor. Playing with his brother J.H., he won the Southern Professional Foursomes Tournament in 1910. The event was played in late January at Stoke Poges...

Antique Golf Club Walking Stick, Sunday Club.
Located in Oxfordshire, GB
Antique Sunday Club, Golf Club Walking Stick. A desirable walking cane with the handle in the shape of a left-handed longnose styled golf club head. The gentleman's walking stick has a persimmon socket head handle with a pegged horn insert and a lead weight to the rear. The crown of the club head stamped with the 'plume of feathers' and a 'Lion' cleek mark. It is with hickory shaft with black and white hosel bands and a brass ferrule at the end. The ban on golfing on the Sabbath, Sunday, had the effect of the club makers producing walking sticks for canny golfers. They fashioned the canes with a golf club head as a handle and they became known as 'Sunday Clubs' or 'Sabbath sticks'. It is said that on the Sabbath a Sunday Club owner, when nobody was looking, could still enjoy a crafty putt or swing. Dimensions: Height 96 cm / 38" Width 10 cm / 4" Depth 4 cm / 1 3⁄4" Period 1900-1949 Year Circa 1930's Medium persimmon & hickory Country United Kingdom Condition Possibly a later replaced shaft. Doorstop "Golfer" by Hubley, circa 1920
By Hubley Manufacturing Company 2
Located in Incline Village, NV
This doorstop, also known as "Overhead Swinging Golfer," is more difficult to find than it's "Putting Golfer" counterpart doorstop; which is also made by Hubley. Manufactured by the Hubley Manufacturing Company of Lancaster, Pennsylvania in 1920, this cast iron doorstop is in outstanding all original bright paint with no touch up or restoration of any kind, and in wonderful patina. It depicts an older, grey haired man, with typical knicker golf garb, taking a wild swing at a golf ball resting on the grass. It has a semi "hollow" rear with a "238" factory marking, indicating that it is, in fact, by Hubley and original. It is noted in Jeanne Bertoia's 1985 book on doorstops page 60; and referenced on page 211 of the Smith book on doorstops. A must for the doorstop or golfing memorabilia...
