About the Item
A Matzah Roller and Perforator from Bukhara , Uzbekistan used in the early 20th Century.
Matzah perforator is hand-carved from one solid piece of wood and has numerous steel nails hammered into its center, and edged with encircling wire around the edges.
This device was used to perforate the Matzoth used on Passover the holes in matzahs allow steam to pass through the dough, preventing it from rising and becoming leavened bread.
The matzah roller is a standard roller similar to the rollers used today to flatten the matzah into thin flat crackers.
