Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong Signature Collage

About the Item

Presented is an exclusive Apollo 11 Signature Collage. The celebratory and collectible collage is composed of a Sea of Tranquility photograph signed by astronaut Buzz Aldrin, a signed and inscribed Neil Armstrong official NASA lithograph, and a NASA and Apollo 11 mission patch. In the midst of the Cold War, President John F. Kennedy delivered a speech stating his intent to place a man on the moon: "I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the Earth. No single space project in this period will be more impressive to mankind, or more important for the long-range exploration of space; and none will be so difficult or expensive to accomplish." The effort to place a man on the moon was named Project Apollo. Through multiple attempts, the United States NASA program was prepared to complete their voyage to the moon with Apollo 11. Apollo 11 successfully fulfilled the manned mission to the moon on July 20, 1969. Neil Armstrong was the first to step on the moon, with Buzz Aldrin following him a few minutes later. Armstrong's first step onto the lunar surface was broadcast on live television to a worldwide audience. He described the event as "one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” Apollo 11 effectively ended the Space Race and fulfilled the national goal proposed by President John F. Kennedy in 1961. This collage commemorates the feats of the Apollo 11 mission with authentic elements, including signatures, photographs, and patches. At the top of the collage is an official NASA color lithograph of Neil Armstrong in his NASA spacesuit, signed and inscribed. The inscription and signature reads "To Andrew Edison, All Good Wishes, Neil Armstrong" in blue felt tipped pen. At center are a round blue NASA patch and a round black Apollo 11 mission patch. The Apollo 11 patch features a wingspread eagle landing on the moon with the words “Apollo 11” written atop it in gold stitching. Below, is a color photograph of Buzz Aldrin on the Moon, taken on July 21, 1969 by Neil Armstrong as they explored the Sea of Tranquility region. Aldrin is depicted on the lunar surface and if you look closely, you can see a reflection of Armstrong in Aldrin’s visor. Aldrin signed the satin-finish photograph in black felt-tipped ink. The signature reads "Buzz Aldrin." CONDITION: Neil Armstrong signed color lithograph. Signed and inscribed in blue felt-tipped pen. Neil Leifer Guts and Glory: The Golden Age of American Football
By Neil Leifer, Jim Murray, Gabriel Schechter
Located in Los Angeles, CA
No pain, no gain. The most memorable moments since the birth of pro football in America. The best of sports photographer Neil Leifer’s 10,000 rolls of football pictures, including hundreds of previously unpublished images. Presented in a custom slipcase and limited to a total of 1,500 copies signed by the photographer, this Collector’s Edition is a companion to Neil Leifer’s instant sell-out success, Ballet in the Dirt: The Golden Age of Baseball, published by seller in 2007. In 1958, sports photographer Neil Leifer took the picture that remains one of his most famous to this day. The day he got the shot - Alan Ameche’s game-winning "Sudden Death" touchdown - was Leifer’s 16th birthday. This game, called "The Greatest Ever Played," signaled football’s emergence as America’s new national pastime; formerly half-empty stadiums welcomed sold-out crowds seemingly overnight, while football surpassed pro baseball and college football in national television ratings. Starting then, on any given Sunday Leifer was most likely shooting a football game somewhere in America. His 1961 photo of legendary Giants quarterback Y.A. Tittle dropping back to pass landed Leifer his first cover for Sports Illustrated and cemented his close connection to the sport. While best known for his iconic photograph of Muhammad Ali towering over a fallen Sonny Liston, and for the enormous diversity of subjects he covered in and out of the sports world, it is his football pictures Leifer considers his best. This collection represents the best of his best, culled from over 10,000 rolls of film on the sport, including hundreds of previously unpublished pictures. It’s impossible to conceive of Peyton Manning hovering over an impromptu wood fire on the sidelines during a blizzard, but Leifer captured Tittle’s Giants doing exactly that during the coldest game in his living memory (the 1962 Championship in New York, a game "far colder than the famous Ice Bowl"). From Vince Lombardi...
