Extremely Rare, Antique and Handcrafted Walker for Teaching Children to Walk
About the Item
Amazing condition children's antique.
This very rare walker from the late 19th century is another one of our great recent finds. If finding one is not special enough, we found this rare specimen in completely original, excellent, very stabile and unrestored condition. If you were born in the late 1800s or early 1900s and your parents were considered 'well to do' then you would have learned to walk in a walker like this. It is for obvious reasons that only very few will have survived so to find one and to find one this good, simply amazed us. Not a single wooden bar was ever broken and it even still has the original, metal casters/ball wheels in working condition. We would love this piece to go to a museum, but if a collector of rare children's antiques wants to display it in a newborn's room or in a pediatrician's office or otherwise then that would make us happy too. Just as long as you promise to take good care. It is the shape, the social-cultural history, the patina and the wonderful look and feel that makes this rare antique so wonderful to look at and so interesting to talk about.

Extremely Rare Early 1900s Brass Altar Server Set or Church Mass Teaching Set
Located in Lisse, NL
For the collectors of very rare and museum worthy church 'teaching tools'.
We had heard of the existence of sets like this, but we had never seen one anywhere. To have found one from the Arts & Crafts era and in this amazing condition more than made our day. Including the altar cards (of which we are not sure if they are original to this set) and including the spoons we have counted 24 pieces in total. We learned that these sets functioned as a training tool for altar boys and this particular set has been extremely well taken care after. The wear on the holy water sprinkler with its ebonized wooden handle shows us that this set has been used more than what the excellent condition brass pieces would lead you to believe. Included in this set are 6 candle holders, a monstrance, a ciborium, a holy water container, a church censer, a boat, a sprinkler with vessel, altar cards, a chalice, an altar bell...

Large Handcrafted and Working Antique Automaton w. Rare Circus Clown & Monkey
Located in Lisse, NL
Extremely rare, circus related antique automaton from a Swiss collection.
Via a Swiss trade contact we were given the opportunity to purchase this extremely rare and all handcrafted automaton. Unfortunately the lady who had owned it for the last 40 years had passed away and had never mentioned where she purchased this unique collectible. Since she owned many rare antiques, it was known that she had also made purchases at renowned auction houses. Because of the absolute rarity of this circus automaton we would not be surprised if that is where she purchased it. Every collector is different and to this lady it apparently was important to keep a piece like this, exactly as she found it (truly original). As you can tell, from the clown's clothing particularly, this rare automaton has never been restored. It is for that reason that the clown's silk clothes are almost completely warn and lost all their color. You can even see 'the base' of this clown's colar. We are not sure if the hand-painted heads, hands and feet are ceramic or if they are paper mache, but they all are in excellent condition. With the circus clown sitting on a table-like stool and the monkey on a high pedestal to get them 'level-eyed', it is also possible that the monkey is supposed to portray a ventriloquist dummy. The wind-up mechanism (located inside the body of the clown) could only run very shortly and that is why we had it cleaned. It can now again run its full length of appr. one hour and five minutes. Underneath the clown's warn silk clothing one can see how the clown's torso is covered / made up of small newspaper parts and since they are in German, this leads us to believe that this automaton was either Swiss or German made. To find an antique automaton with more than one moving character is rare. To find one with a circus clown and circus monkey...
