Antique Victorian Ornate Cast Iron & Brass Swinging Baby Cradle or Plant Stand

About the Item

This antique baby cradle is unsigned, but presumed to have originated from England and date to approximately 1880 and done in the period Victorian style. The frame or stand for the cradle is composed of cast iron with brass accents on the finials and caps on each end support which are held together with two brass accented rails. The cradle is made of steel with a heavy gauge metal mesh with a brass surround and accenting brass detailed brackets with a stylized foliage motif. The cradle rests on the stand using a very sturdy post on either end allowing it to swing back and forth. This cradle is very sturdy and would make a great plant or fern stand, either indoors or as a garden ornament.
