Early George III Pair Of Mahogany Bedside Night Tables
About the Item
A Superb Quality, Very Attractive, And Extremely Well Matched, Pair Of Mid 18th Century, Early George III Period Mahogany Bedside Night Tables, Or Tray Top Commodes, Retaining Superb Rich Colour And Patina Throughout, The Elegantly Carved And Well Figured Gallery Tops Above Up And Over Cupboard Doors, With Converted Pull Out Drawers, Raised On Square Chamfered Legs.
An exceptional example of the sterotypical Georgian tray top commode, or bedside night table, this fabulous pair of tables have clearly been well loved and cherished throughout the many years of their lives. As is very common they have, at some point in their history, been matched into a pair, however unlike the vast majority of matched pairs which you will find, there are very few discernible differences between the two without extreme close inspection.
For reference, the main differences which we have been able to find is a difference in the size of the handles for the doors, a chunkier finish to the roundel decoration on the corners of the top and also one is half an inch deeper than the other. We do in fact wonder whether these were made by the same craftsman, in the same workshop, but at slightly different times such is the similarities of them.
This form of bedside table continues to prove extremely popular for a whole host of reasons, including the fact they are so sturdy when compared to more traditional, smaller bedside tables. They also offer a large amount of storage and the tray type tops mean it is much less likely that anything placed on the tops will get accidentally knocked over.
As with all the items which we offer for sale this pair of bedside tables have been inspected by our highly skilled, traditional antique furniture restorers and received a natural wax polish before being offered for sale, meaning they are ready for immediate placement within the home.

Georgian Mahogany Pair Of Bedside Tables
Located in Bedfordshire, GB
A Good Quality And Attractive Pair Of Late 18th Century, George III Period, Mahogany Bowfront Bedside Night Tables, or Pot Cupboards, Having Well Figured Tops Over Hinged Doors With Replacement Brass Handles, Raised On Elegant Square Tapered Legs.
This pair of Georgian mahogany bedside tables are perfect for exactly what the name suggests, ie placing either side of a bed. They are a good size, tall but not overly wide or deep and stand on very elegant legs. They also have doors which of course allows you to shut away all of those bedside items which you don't want laying around.
They are good quality, elegant and remain in excellent overall condition.
Another nice feature is the fact they are a true pair, with the doors hinged in opposite directions, unlike so many others which we come across that have been matched into pairs and show minor differences.
As with all items which we offer for sale these georgian pot cupboards...
