Large Steel Bed With Snakes, Early 19th Century

About the Item

Exceptional steel bed, with a brown/grey and gold patina, decorated with interlacing ending in snake heads and tails. The initials of the person for whom this bed was intended are in a coat of arms in the center of the footboard; the same initials should have been found in the center of the headboard. Each upright ends in a bronze spinning top. Good general condition, wear and tear to the patina, some missing parts, one damaged shoe. Total dimensions of the bed: H 154 cm, 198 x 227 cm. Height of the headboard 154 cm. Height of the footboard 117 cm. Dimensions of the frame to place a bed base: 194 x 216 cm. Bed delivered completely disassembled.
