Swedish 19th Century Neo-Classical St. Etched Giltwood And Ormolu Mirror
About the Item
A sensational and high quality Swedish early 19th century Neo-Classical st. etched mirror plate, Giltwood and Ormolu mirror. The original double frame vertical beveled mirror plate is framed within a concave Giltwood frame and an egg and dart Ormolu mottled trim. The outer etched mirror plates have intricate designs of rosettes, foliate scrolls and crest like designs amidst outer Ormolu mounts. The scalloped top has a central oval mirror reserve with an etched laurel wreath framed within a double beaded oval Ormolu frame. Flanking the oval reserve are four small mirror plates etched with additional scrolled foliate designs amidst Ormolu foliate scrolls and garlands. The crown is elegantly decorated by three top Ormolu urns filled with blossoming flowers. The design style of this mirror, originally executed in Gilt-lead, has been attributed to both Burchard and Gustav.
