Indian Inlaid Mirror with Tambour Door

About the Item

Fine inlaid sandalwood mirror with elaborate bone and ebony detailing to fretwork top, deep mitered sides and scalloped, arched base. Original mirror inside a black and white chevron surround, and featuring a vine inlaid tambour door that can be retracted to an open position or brought down into a closed position. Suitable to be wall hung or used in a stand for display on a table top. Quite possibly conceived to conform with vashtu shastra, a traditional Hindi system of architecture which suggested mirrors should be covered when one is sleeping.
