Antique Black Forest Mirror with Rustic Antler Decorations ca. 1900 Item e7339 A large and impressive antler mirror with a wood-carved frame decorated with large carved and turned horn roses and pieces of antler from stag, fallow deer and white-tailed deer. Made in Germany, Black Forest around 1900. At the beginning of the 19th century the European nobility discovered antler furnishings for their hunting castles and countryseats. The furniture was either manufactured completely from e.g. stag antler, or it was decorated with antler pieces from the stag, deer, fallow deer and others to get a hunting desing. A famous example was the interior design of 'Jagdschloss Platte' (hunting castle Platte) of count William of Nassau near Wiesbaden, Germany in 1825. artfour is an owner-managed trading company dealing in Black Forest woodcarvings, antler furniture and an impressive variety of unique decorative items.
