19th Century Tall and Narrow Giltwood Hall Mirror
About the Item
A very fine 19th Century giltwood hall mirror of exceptional quality and tall and narrow proportions. The shaped and curved bevelled mirror glass plate is set within a stunningly hand carved moulded, fluted and pierced giltwood frame with elegant beaded row and decorative arrangements of foliate detail throughout. Surmounted with a beautifully ornate and detailed centred crest composition comprising of stylised shells, c-scrolls, ruffles and beaded motif detail flanked with richly trailing flowerheads, ruffles, acanthus leaves and foliate, all exquisitely hand carved in high relief, the base with a further fabulous arrangement of pierced and scrolling acanthus leaves to each side.
