A Stunning 19th Century Giltwood Overmantel Mirror
About the Item
A stunning 19th Century giltwood overmantel mirror. The original bevelled mirror glass plate of rectangular form is set within a very fine, intricately hand carved, moulded and fluted giltwood frame with a pair of pilaster columns to each side with gorgeous arrangements of foliate and flowerhead motif detail. Surmounted with a shaped, panelled triangular architectural pediment with a beautiful centred anthemion flanked with elegantly scrolling foliate set within an egg and dart border. Raised over panelled frieze with centred fluted plaque detail flanked with trailing foliate and applied flowerhead paterae within a beaded row border. The shaped and moulded platform base with a further arrangement of foliate and scroll motif detail to each side.
