Tatu Table Lamp from André Ricard for Metalarte 1972 Spain

About the Item

A playful icon of Spanish industrial design, the Tatu Table Lamp was created by André Ricard for Metalarte in 1972. Inspired by the periscope and the ergonomic curves of a tattoo machine, "Tatu" embodies the spirit of 1970s innovation — modular, functional, and bold in personality. Crafted in vibrant red thermoplastic, the lamp features three independently rotating joints, allowing it to morph seamlessly between a table lamp and a wall-mounted light. This example retains its original box, along with the original wall bracket tucked inside — a detail rarely preserved, making this a particularly complete and collectible piece. What makes this version even more special is the “Diseño Selección ADI FAD” stamp proudly displayed on the body — a recognition awarded by Spain’s prestigious Association of Industrial Design (ADI-FAD), confirming its significance in the history of contemporary design. With its futuristic curves, graphic black detailing, and sculptural adaptability, the Tatu lamp offers more than light — it’s a kinetic design object that animates any space. In excellent vintage condition, this is a standout piece for collectors and design lovers looking to inject character, history, and clever function into their interiors. • Height: 9.9 inches (approximately 25 cm) • Width: 8.1 inches (approximately 20.5 cm) • Depth - Base Diameter: 3.1 inches (approximately 8 cm)

Longobarda Ceramic Table Lamp by Marcello Cuneo for Gabbianelli 1966 Italy
By Marcello Cuneo, Gabbianelli
Located in Lisboa, PT
A bold and playful expression of Italian radical design, the Longobarda Table Lamp was created by Marcello Cuneo for Gabbianelli in 1966. Sculptural and instantly iconic, this ceramic lamp captures the spirit of the 1960s with its futuristic form, saturated color, and pop sensibility. Crafted in glazed ceramic and finished in a vivid high-gloss orange, the lamp’s fluid, monolithic silhouette is as much a light source as it is a piece of art. Its arched top curves into a flowing base, concealing the bulb and directing a warm, glowing light downward and outward — creating a dramatic effect whether lit or not. The lamp’s pure form is uninterrupted by visible seams or switches, with a hidden on/off mechanism and internal bulb placement that enhance its sculptural integrity. This particular example is in very good vintage condition, and was professionally rewired some years ago to ensure safe and functional use. Marcello Cuneo, a former collaborator of Gio Ponti, designed the Longobarda as a radical departure from traditional lighting — its silhouette evoking both ancient helmets...
