Porcelaine De Paris Rare French Lamp in Black Polished Porcelain Hand Painted

About the Item

We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Elegant and rare French lamp, the body is made of fine porcelain manufacture "Porcelaine de Paris" and rests on a solid base made of cast metal and finely decorated, a skilled painter has hand-painted the entire lamp putting in the foreground an elegant Bird of Paradise perched on a branch, the leaves of smaller branches are painted with enamel in relief, the artist has put meticulous attention to detail by choosing soft colors and pleasant. The lamp is rare because the artisans of the "Porcellaine de Paris" hardly used the black porcelain preferring the white one, but this object was created between 1920 and 1925 in Paris, so a product that has followed the fashion of those years in color, but also with the representation of the Bird of Paradise, in fact in the early years of the 900 feathers of this bird ended up enriching the hats and dresses of rich fashionable ladies. Once the Bird of Paradise, originally from New Guinea, was venerated by local natives who saw in him the bird of divinity, perhaps because of its almost supernatural beauty, the bird in the Baroque era was a symbol of closeness to God and detachment from the world; in Europe, they were admired under the name of "sylphs", spirits of the air, their non-stop flight would symbolize the tenacity of faith and spirit. "Porcelain de Paris" is a term that collectively refers to the various porcelain decoration workshops and studios in and around Paris, France. It is not the name of any single company or manufacturer and is usually applied to beautifully crafted objects produced in the mid to late 19th century, a production that continued into the early 1900s as evidenced by our lamp. The makers are in some cases anonymous and generally unknown or have created only a few rare pieces. Antique porcelain objects from Paris are the most desired by collectors and can be found in many museums around the world. The lamp is supplied without a lampshade, so that everyone can choose the color in a personal way to match their decor, the photo with the lampshade is only explanatory.
