Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu and Marble Lamps
About the Item
A superb pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and marble lamps. Raised on ormolu bun feet below a rectangular sienna marble base with chased ormolu trim. Above each is a raised platform with foliate chasings supporting the ormolu oil lamp, with scrolled foliate handle ending with a rosette. The seeming flying winged cherubs each hold a large butterfly and have a quiver of arrows fastened at their waist. The spout of the lamp ends with an electrified bobeche. and silk pleated shade.
