Pair of French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu and Marble Candelabra Lamps
About the Item
A striking pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and white Carrara marble candelabra lamps. Each three arm lamp is raised by an elegant circular stepped white Carrara marble base and striking hoof feet with richly chased scrolled acanthus leaves in a superb satin and burnished finish. The central pedestal displays a most decorative fluted socle support with a charming tied ribbon, tambourines, pan flutes, French horns, and a staff all below exceptional and most unique serpent designs centering a spiral fluted movement. The arms branch out from richly chased masks of handsome bearded men and each displays exceptional Rinceau scrolled movements adorned with acanthus leaves and lovely rosettes leading to floral bobeches and most elegant fluted candle cups. The arms curve upwards at the center leading to superb swaging berried laurel garlands and a stunning intricately detailed foliate finial also in a remarkable satin and burnished finish.
