Johannes Joseph Maria (Jan) Hoogervorst
Hoogervorst's lighting fixtures are distinguished by their clean lines. He has designed numerous lamps, wall sconces and pendants, as well as beautiful floor lamps. Throughout his design career, Hoogervorst has worked for Anvia. Biography J.J.M. Hoogervorst was born in the Netherlands in 1918. He studied architecture, but distinguished himself above all as a painter and illustrator. After the Occupation, the young man developed a passion for design, painting reproductions of furniture he had seen in catalogs. In the early 1950s, he began a long collaboration with Anvia, a Dutch furniture and lighting publisher. Hoogervorst loved to travel and explore many countries in order to develop his creativity. Although little known in France and abroad, the designer contributed to the evolution of Dutch lighting design.

This 1960s Brass Cosack floor lamp exists in several versions. Other lampshades were used with the same base & rod. Also table and wall lamps exists.
The shade can rotate and pointed in various directions.
The Gebrüder Cosack (Gecos) company was founded in 1833 as a metal processing plant in Neheim-Hüsten, Germany by Egon, Friedrich and Theodor Cosack together with Gottliebe Tappe. It was named Metallwarenfabrik Tapp + Cosack. In the beginning they made liturgical items, crosses and upholstery nails made of brass and they also produced kerosene lamps. Later the company came to the production of electric lamps.
After the Second World War Cosack pursued a modern direction. A best seller were copper lighting for restaurants. The company was declared bankrupt in 1984.
