Mathieu Matégot table lamp made in France 1950

About the Item

Charming yellow table lamp designed by Mathieu Matégot and made by Ateliers Matégot in France in 1950. This table lamp is made of metal, and its shade is created with the Rigitulle technique, a die-cut metal, resulting in a captivating light effect. The lamp's brass center, where it joins the base, adds a stylish touch. It's in excellent, fully original condition, ready to bring the fifties flair to your space. This lamp is checked in our own atelier, cleaned and is suitable for use in the USA. For US usage we could change the plug, or you can get a converter if needed for a floor or table lamp with transformer in it. Feel free to inquire for avaialable options. Mathieu Matégot, a renowned Hungarian designer, is celebrated for pioneering the use of a groundbreaking material and technique known as Rigitulle. With this innovation, he combined metal tubing and perforated metal sheets, offering furniture a unique blend of transparency, weightlessness, and timeless modernity. Matégot patented this technique and even established his own production facilities to incorporate it into his designs. He drew inspiration from his global travels, infusing his work with various techniques and aesthetics. Over a decade and a half in the 1950s, Matégot created an iconic and contemporary range of distinctive designs. To ensure quality, he established two workshops—one in Paris and the other in Casablanca, Morocco. These workshops produced limited quantities of up to 400 diferent items until the early 1960s when Matégot shifted his focus to tapestry, a pursuit he continued throughout his career.
