About the Item

A large scale and most elegant French 19th century Louis XVI st. oxblood red porcelain and ormolu lamp. The lamp is raised by a square ormolu base with cut corners, foliate feet, and a fluted socle shaped pedestal support with fine beaded and twisted ribbon wrap around bands. The beautiful baluster shaped oxblood colored porcelain body displays richly chased ormolu maiden masks at each side with striking scrolled foliate handles adorned with rosettes leading upwards and centering the curved neck and reeded top cap.
