About the Item

Lovely and very original lamp with a brown ceramic foot punctuated with touches of water green representing a medieval castle. This magnificent lamp base is enhanced by a sumptuous pleated shade in changing water green silk, made in a traditional way, in a resolutely couture spirit and embellished with sober finishes. This lamp was electrified by Mr. Gilles Plas of SARL VCR, with an electric twisted sheath, of plain brown silk effect fabric. Period: 20th Century Circa: 1950-1955 Dimensions: Total height: 63cm Foot: Height: 33cm x L: 25cm Shade dimensions: Height: 28.5cm - Top width: 28.5cm - Bottom width: 43cm Signed and Numbered Primavera ("spring" in Italian) is the first of the French department stores to want to equip itself at the beginning of the 20th century with a creation workshop. The Printemps art workshop, created in 1912, had the mission of introducing art into everyday life and promoting artistic craftsmanship in the daily life of the French people on the motto of beauty and usefulness. After the First World War, the workshop experienced rapid growth. The 1925 exhibition at the Salon des Arts Décoratifs allows the public to discover the modernities of this workshop which improve everyday life and living conditions. The 1930s marked a revival with the arrival of a new generation of decorators such as Colette Guéden (1912-2007) and Odette Lepeltier (1914-2006). Colette Guéden entered the drawing studio in 1927, took over in 1934. She was artistic director of Primavera from 1938 until 1972. The French artistic adventure ended with the departure of Colette Gueden in 1972. Subsequently, Primavera will produce certain products of the new collections abroad.
