19th Century, French Grand Tour "4 Seasons" Bronze & Sienna Marble Urn Lamps

About the Item

French, 19th century. A pair of good quality bronze urns decorated with playful cherub or putti. The putti figures each represent one of the four season graces after the original mythology: Eiar the goddess of Spring: adorned with a flower crown while holding flowers. Theros the goddess of Summer: wears a crown of corn leaves and holds a bushel. Phthinoporon the goddess of Autumn: wears a headpiece of grapes and her own bushel. Kheiman the goddess of Winter: is covered up and holds dried foliage. Each bronze urn is mounted with figural lion heads and mounted to carved square sienna marble plinths and adorned with ormolu lyre mounts. Original wiring still affixed to the lamps - these can be professionally rewired with 24 hours notice. Measurements: 27" h (to Finial), 13.25" h (to urn), 5" w (urn), 4.5" w (base).
