Lawrence Peabody was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts in 1924. In 1955 he started his own design firm called Lawrence Peabody and Associates in Boston, Massachusetts where his clients included Richardson Brothers, Kohler, Sears & Roebuck, and Boyd Lighting. He assisted in designing several hotels in the United States and the Caribbean. He purchased a home in Haiti in the 1960’s where he and his family would live for six months out of the year. It is where he befriended DeWitt Peters, the founder of Le Centre D'Art, which helped promote interest in Haitian art & craft giving opportunity to hundreds of local artists, many of whom were once impoverished. Mr. Peabody served as Director of Le Centre D’Art. He incorporated Haitian art in his designs and helped bring a collection of one-of-a-kind furniture made by Haitian craftsmen to the United States. Most of his recognized furniture designs were manufactured by Richard Nemschoff but he designed throughout his life for many other well-known names such as Herman Miller, Selig, and Craft & Associates. Vintage MCM Art Deco Figural Jester Harlequin Table Lamps Style of Marbro Pair
By The Marbro Lamp Company
Located in Topeka, KS
Enjoyable vintage MCM (Mid-Century Modern) Art Deco figural jester or harlequin table lamps in the style of Marbro, a pair. Comprised of molded plaster, hand painted details, antiqued gold painted stems and finials, and new black silk like drum shades. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that these are vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There were some cracks and chips that have been repaired. They have new wiring, sockets, & base felt. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-20th Century. Let’s get this party started!!! Did you know, a jester, court jester, fool or joker was historically a member of the household of a nobleman, or a monarch employed to entertain guests during the medieval and Renaissance eras? A jester was also an itinerant performer who entertained common folk at fairs and markets… and now this whimsical performing duo is ready to entertain YOU!!! This is a lively pair of figural table lamps in the style of Marbro comprised of molded plaster with intricately hand painted details. They have antiqued gold painted finials under new black silk like drum shades. The male is wearing a fabulous one piece garment embellished with gold and black diamonds, a cape with a broad gold ruffled collar, a black face mask with bright blue eyes, a Renaissance pirate style hat, and he is jamming out on his mandolin with one foot perched upon a ball. The female jester or “Plaisante” appears to be dancing and getting her groove on to the beat of the mandolin. Her outfit matches the male jester with black and gold diamonds down her pants, an identical wide gold ruffled collar, and a gold zig zag on the front of her top. And let’s not forget to mention her gorgeous gold shoes!! She also has a black face mask with blue eye slots and her hat is pointed with jewels on the front. She holds a facial fan which she waves as she dances and a shawl that drapes loosely across her back and flows as she glides to the music. They are sturdied by antiqued gold painted stems and they both stand upon a square base stacked upon a larger gilded square with rounded edges… They are absolutely EXQUISITE!!! Can’t you just hear the strum of the strings and see them laughing and dancing in front of their King or nobleman? We certainly can! They will be wonderful in a game or entertainment room, in your living room, one on each side of the sofa upon a pair of end tables or side by side on a sofa table, or in your bedroom, one on each nightstand beside your bed. They are mid-century modern with a little Art Deco and Hollywood Regency flair and will blend in beautifully with many décor styles. If you are a clown collector or jester lover and have been searching for just the right addition to your home… you just found it! They are amusing, completely charming, and sure to entertain you and your guests for years to come!! There’s no more time for “funny business….” You simply MUST make them YOURS!!! Female Lamp...

Kila Red Dog Rolling Table Lamp by Harry Allen for IKEA
By IKEA, Harry Allen
Located in Topeka, KS
Awesome Kila red dog rolling table lamp designed by Harry Allen for Ikea. It is in wonderful vintage condition. We have provided a new plug adapter. Please see photos, circa 2001. Ok I never thought I would say IKEA and original awesome design in the same sentence but here you have it! This incredible table task lamp was designed in 2001 exclusively for Ikea by Harry Allen designs. He and it won accolades worldwide for its fabulous design. Harry’s inspiration for this rolling task light was his life-long interest in roller skating. Its tripod base is supported by rubber wheels which allow it to move in circles. Designer, Harry Allen is quoted as saying “Kila spins on its axis as if it had been practicing that move in the roller rink for decades.” This bright red lamp is so reminiscent of 1960s cutting edge design yet feels futuristic at the same time. And although it originally sold for IKEAs super low pricing has now as with the great designs through the ages become collectable and sought after. Harry Allen is an award winning designer born1964 in New Jersey. He obtained his undergraduate degree from Alfred University and his master’s in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute in NYC. He founded Harry Allen Design NYC in 1993. That same year he produced a line of furniture called Living Systems and since has designed internationally with a wide variety of clients and products. He has work in the permanent collection of MoMA, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Denver Museum of Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art as well as earning many design awards. We found this lamp sitting atop a George Nelson action...
