1970s American Studio Craft Blown Glass Lamp by Richard Harkness

About the Item

Studio glass lamp with original shade made by renowned glass blower, Richard Harkness (New Hampshire, USA, circa 1970s). Harkness's work can be seen in a number of prestigious galleries and museums, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Additionally, he was formerly a professor of glassblowing at Haystack Mountain School of Arts. Harkness's lamps are scarcely seen. This particular 'orb' art glass lamp features a bubble motif throughout. The teal color at the top fades into a pale blue / almost clear glass finish creating a nice contrast. The original shade is present, but shows some unraveling / loss to the weave at the top, as shown. The glass is free of defects, chips, cracks. Artist's etched signature present on the underside. We have a separate blown glass lamp by Harkness pictured here but listed separately.
