Pair Louis XVI Gilt-Bronze Sconces, France c. 1870

About the Item

A pair of Gilt-Bronze wall sconces, with three candle-arms emanating from a Neo-classical design back-plate. The pair crafted after Louis XVI period designs, and dating from the third quarter of the 1800s. The arms cast with foliate accents around their base, and also in square expanding form closer to the candle nozzle & drip-plate. The backplate capped by an urn-shaped finial, and with various ribbon & bell-flower designs throughout. The body drilled for electric wiring at a later date, though largely not visible from the front. William Word Fine Antiques: Atlanta's source for antique interiors since 1956.
