Large Pair of Swedish Grace, Art Deco Sconces in Polished Brass

About the Item

Very fine and large pair of polished brass sconces which embody the restrained elegance of what the French press described as "Swedish Grace" at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in 1925. These sconces are made of solid brass, newly polished and lacquered. Each sconce has a single arm with a shell shaped shade and a single standard base socket. A raised half sunburst decorates the area beneath a stylized canopy which is topped with a shell like ornament. These sconces may have commissioned for an important public building such as a concert hall. Dimensions: Height 15.5". Width 8.25". Depth 5.5".
