French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Belle Époque Period Floor Lamp
About the Item
A stunning French 19th century Louis XVI st. Belle Époque period Rosso Levanto and Vert de Patricia marble, granite and ormolu floor lamp, attributed to Henry Dasson. The floor lamp was once an oil lamp, is raised by a square Vert de Patricia base with a mottled border and fine ormolu bun feet. Above the ormolu socle pedestal decorated with a charming berried laurel band is the granite circular central column with striking richly chased ormolu swaging floral garlands and detailed tied ribbons. Above an ormolu capital with recessed foliate designs on an etched background is the Vert de Patricia tier with a mottled border where the urn is affixed. The high quality urn is raised by a bottom double mottled circular marble back and twisted fluted ormolu socle pedestal. The body is encased by most impressive and intricately detailed swaging floral garlands with a central tied ribbon on a pierced rinceau patterned wrap around ormolu band. At each side are spectacular and unique ormolu mounts of a bearded man with birds and intertwined snakes in his hair. Above a twisted fluted ormolu top cap is the original oil lamp cluster.
