About the Item
In 1958, Alain Richard invented the first French spotlight called ‘projecteur orientable type cylindrique’ in the Disderot catalogue of the time, and developed it into a whole range of lighting including floor lamps, table lamps, wall lamps and more. This A14 floor lamp is one of the designer's classics, with its minimal, uncluttered style enhanced by its Carrara marble base and here its white lacquer on the spotlight and the ‘paralume’. Alain Richard was a major French designer of the 1950s-70s, winning the Grand Prix at the Milan Triennale in 1954, the 1958 Universal Exhibition, and the Prix René-Gabriel in 1964.
