Set of Four Kinkeldey Faceted Crystal and Gilt Metal Light Fixtures, Germany
About the Item
This set of modernist design light fixtures were designed by the Kinkeldey design team during the 1970s, and manufactured in Germany by Kinkeldey. Two chandeliers and two wall scones. The frame from the chandeliers is stamped with the Kinkeldey manufacturer's mark. Very elegant and fine light fixtures, comfortable with all decor periods. The light fixtures from Kinkeldey are executed to a very high standard.
Each chandelier features a 24-karat gold-plated five tier structure from which 54 quality multifaceted crystals are suspended. The removable hexagonal crystals are hand polished and secure to the frame with solid brass decorative cylinder screws. This chandelier carries horizontally inside the frame six standard small screw light bulbs (E14) up to 60 watts each and one standard big screw light bulb (E27) up to 100 watts at the bottom.
The bottom tier unhooks allowing easy access to change the light bulbs from below. The rod is removable and screws to the top of the frame. The original brass ceiling cup finishes the rod at the top. Inside the ceiling cup there is an S-hook for safely fitting the light to the ceiling.
Measures wall sconce: With 8 inch (20 cm), height 9 inch (22 cm), depth 3.5 inch (10 cm).
Each wall light sconce gets a Modernist twist as the frame is hidden, leaving the crystals to appear to float. This effect is achieved from quality multifaceted crystals, beautifully reflecting the light, on a sculptural geometric form plated in 24-karat gilt subtly glimmering through. The 7 removable hand polished hexagonal crystals secure to the frame with brass decorative cylinder screws. Each wall light carries two standard small screw light bulbs E14 up to 40 Watts each

Kinkeldey is a German manufacturer of high-end lighting fixtures. The company attracted international attention when they won the prestigious IF Design Award in 1969 with a chandelier fitted with prism cut crystals. During the 1970s Kinkeldey produced a number of variations on this award winning model, like the one offered here. Though these lamps show the same quality as fixtures of companies like Bakalowits, Lobmeyer and Palwa, the Kinkeldey models tend to be more modern in their design approach.
