This stunning handcrafted opaline mid-century modern Murano chandelier features four frond-like arms with leaf-like embellishments. The chandelier, simple yet elegant, showcases exceptional craftsmanship and a mastery of Murano glasswork. The glasshouses on Murano island are renowned for their intricate glass chandeliers, created through the inflation of molten glass followed by precise cutting, pincering, and rapid decoration techniques. Crafted from opaline glass that glows in a light blue hue with subtle variations in different lighting conditions, this piece embodies the opaline glassmaking tradition, known for its bluish-white color from Calcium phosphate and opalescent quality from fluorides. The dynamic nature of this material complements the shifting opalescent tones. With a classic design, this chandelier serves as a radiant centerpiece, embodying refinement and transient beauty that captivates and evokes a tranquil ambiance in any space. Rewired: Rewired to US electrical standards, it takes four base-size bulbs, incandescent or LED. This fixture requires a canopy and chain which is not included. Three feet of wire at the top can be adjusted to the preferred height. Wear consistent with age and use. Glassblown, no part is identical. Natural imperfections but no chips or cracks. The arms and extensions are numbered to correspond to numbered slots on the base. See all images, especially the close-ups. Parts are disassembled and require assembly.
