Italian 19th Century Painted and Gilt Metal Chandelier

About the Item

A beautiful and most charming Italian 19th century Louis XVI st. Saxe porcelain, glass, tole, and gilt metal chandelier. The six arm chandelier is centered by its original most decorative glass dome with a finely mottled bottom finial. At the center is a beautiful wrap around foliate band with lovely pressed metal leaves from where the arms branch out. Each arm is adorned with pressed metal acanthus leaves and striking vividly colored Saxe porcelain flowers leading to foliate bobeches. At the center is a lovely hanging reserve with three additional arms and light bulbs decorated in the same manner. The exceptional cage displays additional charming intricately detailed porcelain flowers and luxuriant tole leaves wrapped around the three supports and leading up to the single original extension above. All original patina throughout. Measures: Height with extension: 78".
