French 19th century Directorate st. patinated Bronze and Ormolu chandelier

About the Item

An elegant and most decorative French 19th century Directorate st. patinated Bronze and Ormolu chandelier. This beautiful six arm chandelier is centered by an Ormolu acorn bottom finial below a pierced Ormolu palmette reserve. The curved patinated Bronze body has six curved sides with the six arms at each peak. Each electrified Ormolu arm is decorated by scrolling foliate designs and a bearded male profile below the circular candle cups with mottled and beaded edges. Extending upwards to the top crown are three pierced Ormolu chains which attach to a foliate decorated mounting frame below a patinated Bronze circular top cap with a palmette designed spray. *Shades, Canopies and Chain for display purposes, sold separately.

The 19th century French antique piece was originally created for gas, but has been fully converted to electric. Note the six finial-adorned arms ending in a shape inspired by Aladdin’s lamp. The vase shaped center is stunning in its matte black middle bookended by fluted, golden elements at top and bottom. Uniquely, a collection of Egyptian inspired feline feet surround the finial at bottom.
