Edera Radici for SAGIM 1950's Italian Patinated Brass and Crystal UFO Pendant
About the Item
Unique UFO-form pendant light in finely hammered and patinated nickel-plated brass and set with several dozen octagonal cut crystal gems and illuminated from within by six standard size Edison screw cap lightbulbs designed by Edera Radici for SAGIM s.a.s. Construzioni per Illuminazione, Mogliano Veneto - Treviso.

From a private estate in Milano circa 1950.
Diameter is 23.5 inches. Overall height from round canopy to lowest center of fixture is ~12 inches. Height of fixture itself is ~5.5 inches. Canopy and tripod suspension arms are ~6.5 inches high.
Of course it is possible to attach a chain if a longer drop is desired.
Very similar to a design by Max Ingrand for Fontana Arte model 2416.

When we acquired this fixture it was part of a substantially larger but remarkable architectural structure. See last three images. The pendant was mounted via a nearly 5ft long perpendicular wrought iron bracket to a wrought iron rectangular framed grille or partition fitted with several dozen colored Murano glass disks or rondels. The dimensions of which were nearly 9ft tall (105 inches) by 3ft wide (34.5 inches). Reflecting upon the practicalities of shipping such a large item we opted to separate the fixture from the screen.
