Aino Aalto 'AMA 500' pendant light, 1940s. Executed in enameled aluminum and brass for Valaistustyö Ky Finland, circa 1941. Signed with impressed manufacturer's mark to fixture: Valaistustyo 'AMA 500'.

Aino Maria Marsio-Aalto was a finish architect and a key innovator of Scandinavian Modern design. The co-founder of the legendary design brand Artek, she energetically collaborated with her more famous husband Alvar Aalto on many of its most iconic designs.
New period styled custom fabricated brass ceiling canopy added for mounting and hardwiring over a standard American j-box. Rewired for 60W max e26 incandescent bulb (higher with LED); white cord and custom brass canopy. Only 1 of the lamps shown in photos; variation in wear between each. Some scuffs, losses, bends & dings noted only for accuracy. Not UL listed, but recommended UL listing available from authorized 3rd party vendor upon request for an additional fee.
