18th Century Gilt Bronze and Blue Glass Russian Chandelier

About the Item

A beautiful Russian chandelier from the Louis XVI period c. 1790 in gilt bronze and with cut-glass crystals. The center with baluster shaped blue glass. The lower main drapery shaped gilt bronze ring with six linked gilt bronze candle arms with a total of 12 leaf-shaped candleholders. The candleholders with drip pans of blue glass. Adorned with differently cut prisms in chains and drop formations. Crowning plume. Russian chandeliers from this period are rare and this one is . in a nice ready to hang condition and we can have it electrified if needed.

A highly decorative and unusual large ruby red vase with a gilt and silvered bronze stand. The gilt and silvered bronze base with three sturgeons. Possibly of Russian origin and made in the late 19th century. The cut glass vase lifts off the bronze base. It holds water and is in perfect condition. Sturgeon is one of the oldest bone fishes still in existence and the oldest fossils found date back the Early Jurassic period, some 174 to 201 million years ago.
