Northwest Coast Native American Killer Whale Orca Mask, Wood, Red & Black Design

About the Item

This intricately carved wooden mask hails from the Pacific Northwest Coast, showcasing a striking Native American Killer Whale (Orca) motif. Expertly crafted, the mask features bold black and red designs that reflect the rich artistic traditions of the region. The Orca, an important cultural symbol for many coastal tribes, represents strength, power, and transformation. The mask is signed on the underside with the title, date, and the artist's initials "JJ," suggesting it was likely created by renowned carver Johnny Johns, known for his work in traditional Northwest Coast art. This piece is a stunning example of indigenous craftsmanship and storytelling, making it a significant addition to any collection of Native American art. The mask’s vivid colors, intricate design, and cultural significance make it a remarkable representation of the artistic traditions of the Pacific Northwest Coast.
