Looking forward, looking back
Fritz proctor is an American painter from Niagara Falls, New York. Fritz acquired his BA in Studio Art from the University of Buffalo. His work has been exhibited nationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions. His paintings are investigations of his own memory through the marriage of abstraction and representation. One must look at Fritz’s paintings through a lens in which vague memories exist. Through this lens, the viewer is allowed to fill in the missing details of the ambiguous moments that occur in his paintings. Ambiguity in Fritz’s paintings occurs because he is working in a nostalgic state of mind. He is not interested in precise visual portrayal of specific moments in life, but rather portraying the feeling of memory. As Fritz’s paintings suggest: memory is an abstract sensation, calling for an abstract output.
