British Sailor's Woolwork with Ships off a Chalk Cliff, Circa 1875 This exquisite sailor's woolwork, also known as a "woolie," dates back to approximately 1875. The artwork vividly portrays a scene along the British coastline, likely depicting the iconic white chalk cliffs of Dover. A three-masted merchant ship is depicted sailing towards the shore, while in the foreground, a portside view of a Thames barge is prominently featured. In the background, a green grassy hill overlooks an estuary, with two ships sailing out to sea. Atop the chalk cliffs, a pathway leads to a house, a church, and a windmill, adding to the picturesque charm of the scene. Antique Double Sailor's Valentine, circa 1880, a pair of handcrafted shell collages mounted in mahogany octagonal shadowboxes, hinged together and mounted with a clasp and a chain for hanging. This valentine features a heart and the message "Forget Me Not." The valentine is in great condition, but does of course have a few shells that have come loose over the past century and a half.
