Circa 1950s French Childs Carnival/Circus Prop Chair

About the Item

A wonderful whimsical circa 1950s French Childs Carnival and/or Circus prop chair. Carved parts, feet, hands and head with big blue eyes and top it off a fun blue hat falling forward. The wooden chair's paint has faded over the years but still has nice color, and good details. A unique item from the past, would make a great addition to your collection.

A very handsome mid-century A. Brandt Co. Ranch Oak desk and chair set with a great classic American West look. Hand-crafted design features rustic hand-carved and chiseled details on both the desk and chair, which have a warm honey oak finish and display very handsome grain throughout. Desk with three drawers at left and two open shelves at right. Fully finished on all sides so that it can be placed anywhere in a room. Blackened metal rounded-head nails or furniture tacks punctuate drawer pulls and various frame elements, adding a bit of nicely understated decoration. Finished on all sides so it can float in a room. Ranch Oak logo branded on inside of top drawer. Chair with contoured seat, slat back, and handle cut-out at top. Both it and the desk have great craftsmanship, and make for a very sturdy set that’s meant to last a lifetime. A. Brandt Company was established in Fort Worth, Texas in 1900, with their Ranch Oak line produced from 1938 to the mid-1980s. This particular set dates from the 1950s.
