About the Item
Victorian Classical sterling silver creamer and sugar. Made by Wood & Hughes in New York, ca 1880. Upward tapering sides with basket-weave exterior and gilt-washed interior; rectangular cartouche applied and engraved with single-letter monogram and years 1859 and 1884. Creamer: Banded and reeded high-looping double handle. Mouth plain and tapering with lip spout and bright-cut ornament. Sugar: Swing-mounted c-scroll chevron handle. Cover raised with reeded c-scroll handle mounted over welled center; alternating plain and bright-cut trapezoidal frames. Fully marked including maker’s stamp and no. 113A.
