Pair of French porcelain wine coolers sevres, circa 1776. Painted by Etienne Evans and gilded by Francois Baudouin.

Each decorated with a central band of slanted acanthus leaves with beaded borders, flanked with fearsome lion mask handles, the base and rim with similar beaded borders.

Marked on basket liners, shoulders and handles: Birmingham, 1877, Maker: Fredric Elkington.

With grape and vine border and Bacchic handles. Also with crest on removable rim.

This is an exceptional pair of antique English silver plated wine coolers by the renowned silversmith Hawksworth, Eyre & Co of Sheffield, circa 1870 in date. The wine coolers stand on circular pedestal bases with decorative Faustian masque handles and bodies which are masterfully embellished with grape vine decoration. Each cooler is fitted with a removable lid and liner and the lids are engraved with crests of a bull. Add some classic elegance to your home with this lovely decorative pair of coolers. Condition: In excellent condition. As antique items, the coolers show minor signs of use commensurate with age, these minor condition issues are mentioned for accuracy and, as seen in the accompanying photographs, they display beautifully.
