This lovely and extremely detailed miniature depicts the Self portrait of Elisabeth Louise Vigée Le Brun, the porcelain rectangular plaque, that dates back to late 18th Century, is finely hand painted with oil colors. the artist portrayed with palette and brushes in hand, in a giltwood frame. This late 18th century rectangular finely painted porcelain plaque after Vigée Le Brun, the artist portrayed with palette and brushes in hand, in a giltwood frame. Our miniature reproduces the oil on canvas exhibited at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence (100 cm High x 81 cm Width). The other known copy ( with a different sitter) was painted for the Earl of Bristol by Vigée Le Brun, the oil on canvas is now in the Watford Museum Collection, UK (96.5 cm High x 82.2 cm Width). Louise Élisabeth Vigée Le Brun (France,16 April 1755 – 30 March 1842) was a French painter, and she is recognized as the most famous female painter of 18th century. She was the daughter of a portraitist and fan painter, Louis Vigée, from whom she received her first instruction. She had quick success as a portraitist of high society thanks to the naturalness and vitality of her portraits. She became official portraitist of Marie Antoinette and thanks to the Queen, Elisabeth Vigée Le Brun became a member of the 'Academie Royale de Peinture' in Paris. The paintress Vigée Le Brun was the most requested among the portrait painters of her time. She completed more than 900 paintings, among them there are many self-portraits and portraits of her friend Marie Antoinette. Fantastic Quailty, Excellent condition.
