About the Item

This exceptional 22" sterling silver meat platter was made by Dominick and Haff of New York. The piece rests on four large feet and has a shaped edge featuring an ornate embossed floral and foliate pattern consisting of crisply detailed baskets of flowers, floral medallions and scrolling acanthus leaves. The rim and sides of the feet are bordered in a decorative variation of an egg and dart pattern. The face of the platter is finished with a large tree of life motif series of channels intended to drain meat juices and has a deep oval well at one end. This substantial platter has no removals or repairs and weighs in at 92ozt. The underside of the piece is fully hallmarked and bears the Dominick and Haff mark along with the designation Sterling and code S. 8027. The platter has been monogrammed with the single initial R at one side. A highly decorative and useful serving piece.
