Antique Early 19th C. American Maple And Pine Corner Cabinet
Located in New Orleans, LA
Antique early 19th century American pine and maple Corner Cupboard, c 1810. Made of pine and maple, featuring triangular form with stunning original glazed wavy glass doors, three drawers and wood doors below This cupboard has pale pink old milk painted interior shelves. The glass features waves and bubbles consistent with age and was completely hand made with wooden pegs.
Ever wonder how large, tall pieces of furniture were moved in and out of the small doorways in 18th-19th century homes?
Beginning about 1740, corner cupboards were very popular storage pieces. Some were built into the room by carpenters so they never had to be moved.
Instead of a rectangular piece of furniture, the corner piece was triangular in the back so it fit into a corner with no wasted space.
Through the years, many of these built-ins have been removed and given new backs.
Most old corner cupboards were made by a cabinetmaker to be moved from house to house.
The top section usually had glass cabinet doors covering several shelves. The silver or dishes inside were arranged to be admired. The bottom section had two wooden cabinet doors...

Set of SIX Masons Dinner Plates in Small Vase Flowers and Rocks Ptn, Ca 1818
By Mason's Ironstone
Located in Lincoln, Lincolnshire
These are a fine early set of six ironstone pottery dinner plates made by the Mason's factory at Lane Delph, Staffordshire, England and beautifully decorated in the small vase, flowers and rocks pattern, fully stamped and dating to the earliest period of Mason's Ironstone production, circa 1818.
This design is one of Mason's very decorative Chinoiserie patterns called "Small Vase, Flowers and Rocks" pattern, which is one of Mason's rarer patterns with very rich hand gilding and all hand painted, the detail of each plate being different. This Imari inspired pattern is illustrated on page 110 of a Guide to Mason's Patent Ironstone patterns, circa 1813-1848, produced by The Mason's Collectors Club.
