The Louis XVI style (in French: style Louis XVI), known in France at the time as Style à la grecque (Greek style),12 is an artistic style of decoration and furniture that emerged in France after the Transition Style, which had appeared as the avant-garde of the Louis XV Style (Rococo).
It is one of the most representative styles of the neoclassical movement; It covers approximately from 1760 to 1789, and therefore originates before Louis XVI began to reign (1774). This style will be succeeded by the Directory Style.
