Art Deco Silver Plate Metal Serving Tray and Dishes by Quist

About the Item

Silversmith Quist designed this beautiful Art Deco barware service for cocktails or appetizers. The piece was crafted circa 1930. The modernist bar accessory boasts a large silver plate hexagonal serving tray with carved handles. Six blown crystal serving dishes with cut etching complete the server to display vegetables or olives. The central rectangular bowl with a silver plate lid can be used for dipping sauce. Each crystal dish is removable from the tray for serving purposes. This designer piece is perfect for entertainment or parties to serve appetizers with cocktails. Legal silversmith hallmarks are on the underside of the tray. The serving piece was crafted in Germany circa 1930. The bar server is in good condition, with light scratches inside the silver plate tray and minor oxidation spots resulting from typical use. They do not significantly affect the overall appearance. Check the close-up. Measurements: Tray: 18.13 in wide (46 cm) x 10.63 in deep (27 cm) x 2 in high (5 cm). Corner dish (each): 4.32 in wide (11 cm) x 4.32 in deep (11 cm) x 1.19 in high (3 cm). Note: Quist Metallwaarenfabrik History The firm originated from the plant founded in 1866 by Jakob Swiss Jr. In 1872, the company modified its name to "Actien Plaqué." Among the principal shareholders was Wilhelm Friedrich Quist (1831-1903), who entered the company's capital around 1890. The firm became F.W. Quist Metallwaarenfabrik, and the Quist family continued to manage the firm until 1951. The factory closed in 1981 due to bankruptcy.
