Studio Opi Midcentury Acrylic Cubic Italian Ice Bucket for Di Cini & Nils, 1974

About the Item

Wonderful mid century smoked acrylic cubic ice bucket for Di Cini & Nils. This amazing item was designed by the Italian Studio Opi, and specifically by Franco Bettonica and Mario Melocchi, in 1974. This serving piece is astonishing thanks to its shape, a solid and static cube that can be opened by its upper side. Inside there is a semisphere, that is the plate for the ice, laying inside a cylinder. An elegant piece made of the purest solid geometric figures, cube, cylinder and semisphere, that will enrich a minimal bar or midcentury-style kitchen. Franco Bettonica, (1927/1999) was born in Milan in 1927 and started designing while he was still a student. He has had a successful career in construction, interiors and industrial design. Since 1969, he has been with Cini&Nils as designer and creative manager.
