Late 19th Century German Beer Stein with Cobalt Blue Glass Adornments

About the Item

Imagine how many thirsts were quenched with the rare and unique stein! This piece was created between 1840's and 1900 in Germany. Unlike many other steins of this era, this one is adorned with cobalt blue glass jewels placed into the ornately detailed pewter lid. This piece was made with the rings strategy producing a salt glaze finish with lovely imperfections. One glass stone appears to be missing from the thumb lift lever. A smaller round glass stone on the stein lid, is seemingly sheered off, leaving remnant blue glass. The top front shows a 1L and there is a beautiful inscribed name on the lid along with the number 23, which could have been the young man's age at the time of him receiving the stein. Truly a spectacular specimen. Great for the collector or that person looking to add a unique piece to their back bar to ad visual interest.
