Japanese 19th Century Imari Porcelain And French Louis XV St. Ormolu Centerpiece

About the Item

An impressive and extremely decorative Japanese 19th century Imari porcelain and French Louis XV st. Ormolu centerpiece/urn. This stunning centerpiece is raised by a circular pierced Ormolu base with Rocaille and foliate designs. Supporting the porcelain body is a solid circular Ormolu reserve with fluted designs and a beaded band. Extending up both sides of the elaborate and finely detailed Imari porcelain body are two beautiful Ormolu maidens with floral bouquets hanging below. Atop both maidens are large scale 'C' scrolled acanthus leaves with reeded designs. The Imari porcelain body is decorated with scrolling patterns, foliate designs, and a beautiful array of blue, red, and light shades throughout. The upper rim displays a pierced Ormolu band with scrolling foliate decorations. Inside the porcelain centerpiece is a removable metal insert with two oval handles on either side.
